My research investigates the role of district science coordinators, how they support teacher change, and work to increase student achievement. There has been very little research in this area over the last 30 years and my work seeks to begin to build this area of research. Work in this area has the potential to illuminate areas where district science coordinators need support and to suggest standards for individuals working in this position. As a result of my work in this area, I have developed a broad understanding of the research on teacher change, professional development, and district effectiveness. My long-term career goals involve continued research regarding how science coordinators can best support teacher change and increased student achievement. I hope to use my findings to inform policy and to build the literature in this area. I also hope to continue to investigate my other areas of interest including differentiation, nature of science, technology integration, pre-service and in-service teacher professional development, and teacher leadership.
